Girl Scout Ceremonies

Ceremonies mark special Girl Scout events throughout the year. They can celebrate major transitions, such as bridging to another level or getting your Girl Scout pin, commemorate your accomplishment when you earn awards, or simply make the beginning or end of your group's meeting special. You can also plan a ceremony around a theme, such as friendship or nature, that you wish to explore in thought, words, or song. Whatever its purpose, every Girl Scout ceremony enables girls to share in a special part of Girl Scout history and create their own special memories.

Girl Scout Songs

Since the days of Daisy Low, Girl Scouts and their leaders have been writing, singing, and playing songs that celebrate sisterhood and the fundamental ideals of Girl Scouting. Whether your favorite Girl Scout memory is from the last day of summer camp, a meaningful troop ceremony, or a special event, chances are music was a part of it.

·Annual Girl Permission Form - Thisform is to be completed at the beginning of each membership year and kept withyour troop records.

·GSEM's Electronic VolunteerAgreement Form - After registering as an adult member andprior to meeting with girls and handling funds, you need to accept and submitthis agreement indicating you will abide by the terms set forth by GSEM.

·Electronic Activity Form - You will needto submit an activity form to GSEM for any high-risk activity your troop plans.

·Activity Girl Permission Form -Each girl, in your troop must have written permission from their primarycaregiver for every activity that is held at a different place from the regularmeeting. Use this form as your troop permission slip.

New leaders can get many of their basic questions answered about beginning their work with a troop by watching the great videos posted on the GSEMA website.  The best videos to start with include Family Meetings, Plan Your Year, and Letting Girls Take the Lead. But there's no need to stop there. Check out all the topics and watch as they apply to your troop's growth and interests. Volunteer Toolkit

The Volunteer Toolkit* is a new digital planning tool that gives volunteers resources and program content to get the year started—and keep it going smoothly! Fully customizable, the toolkit is digitally responsive so volunteers can plan and prepare practically anywhere.

Girls have more fun when they can shape their own experience, do hands-on activities, and work together as teams. With the new toolkit, girls and leaders can explore meeting topics and program activities together, and follow the fun as they plan their Girl Scout year.

A helpful note on the GSEMA website: at the lowest right hand corner there is Volunteer Quick Links and under that are links to the most common pages used by leaders. It can be overwhelming to start.  The training, organizing, paperwork, badges and activities.  Even experienced leaders will get confused or overwhelmed with new "guidelines" Girl Scouts adds.  Just sit back take a deep breath and know that it's about girls doing things together -cherish their smiles and watch confidence grow in each girl!
