Based at American Legion Post 177 in Fairfax, Virginia, Troop 1887 is dedicated to delivering an outstanding program grounded in the values and principles of Scouting. Through Scouting, we teach good conduct, respect for others, and honesty. Our Scouts learn basic outdoor skills, leadership skills, and how to get along with others.
Our Troop offers fun and adventure in a welcoming, family-oriented environment. Our program includes:
- Regular Troop meetings on Tuesday nights at the American Legion Hall
- Monthly weekend overnight events, focused on camping, skiing, whitewater rafting, horsemanship, and more
- Weeklong summer camping through a variety of outstanding local and regional Boy Scout camping facilities
- Annual participation in the BSA High Adventure Program
- Monthly hikes and an active physical fitness program
- Dedicated training to teach leadership skills to our Scouts
- A vibrant Merit Badge program
We are a boy-led Troop with strong youth leadership, backed up by experienced uniformed adult leadership and an active Troop Committee.
